The July meeting of the Mid-shropshire league agreed that due to the exceptional weather conditions in June the 21 day rule for re-arranged fixtures can be relaxed, however clubs are reminded that it is important to ensure the re-arranged games are played as soon as possible. The Fixture Secretary will be contact clubs who have outstanding matches to play to ensure that revised dates have been made.

 

The backlog of results due to the Fixture Secretary being on Holiday has now been cleared and all results have now been updated.

 

 

Dennis Lewis (Chairman)Named Players

The May meeting of the Mid-Shropshire League agreed to the fixtures secretary request to organise a team of 3 people to monitor Clubs Named players.

The current results service provided by leaguebowls.com provides sufficent stats to enable others besides the Fixture Secretary to monitior the Named Player in accordance with rule 22 of the league. Three people have been allocated either 9 or 10 clubs each to monitor, to ensure that they are observing rule 22, if players are found to be playing outside of the ruling then the Fixture Secretary will be contacting the clubs concerned to review their named player situation.

Player Registrations

The first league match starts on Thursday 12 April. Clubs are reminded that all players and Named players must be registered with the Fixture secretary 48 hrs before a match, this means that registration forms must be with the Fixture Secetary by no later than Tuesday 10 April, otherwise clubs may fall foul of fielding players who are not registered with the league.

Fixtures and Results

With immediate effect the results service for the Mid-Shropshire league will be hosted by www.leaguebowls.com where all the fixtures and results can be found. If their is any error with fixture dates, then the dates that are in the league handbook must always be used as the official date. Select Result Service from the lefthand menu and once within the site select Results.

Div 1,2 & 3 Start Dates

The Mid-Shropshire meeting held in March asked the Fixture Secretary to move the first fixture for the Friday Night divisions from Wednesday 11 April to Wednesday 22 August. The strat date of Thursday 12 April for Divisions 4,5 &6 will remain the same. Clubs who have received advanced fixture lists should make note of the amendment. The League Handbook which will be presented to the League in April will show the correct dates.

SJB Bayley Declines PromotionSJB

The February meeting heard that SJB were unable to accept promotion into Division 3 which would mean that they would have to find 60 players including reserves,SJB felt this would be too difficult to achieve. Their decision gave a reprieve to Edgmond who would now stay in Divison 3.

Teams playing in the Saturday League would see an additional team from SJB and a new team from Newport, unfortunately Trench have elected to withdraw a team, this brings the total number of teams playing on a Saturday to 12.

Steve Wall Fixture SecretaryStart Dates for the 2007 season

The Mid-Shropshire league agreed to the Fixture Secretary's recommendation for the 2007 season to start on Thursday 12th April for Divisions 4,5 and 6, and Friday 13th April for Divisions 1,2 and 3. The Fixture Secretary informed the meeting that the Monday Divisions had to start on the Thursday as Monday 9th April is Easter Monday and he was observing the league guidelines of having no league fixtures on a Bank Holiday. The last match of the season will be on Friday 21st September.

Mid-Shropshire Prizes on Presentation Night 2006

TheLeagues Presenatition Night will take place at St. Georges on January 13th 2007 any prize winners who do not attend are advised that they must nominate someone to collect their winnings on the night otherwise it will be forefeited.

Juniro Merit Finalists

Mid-Shropshire Bowling League President, John (Jack) Jones, on the eve of his 87th Birthday, could not hide his pleasure when he welcomed over 70 players and their families to the Sinclair Club for the first presentation evening of his “brain child” Junior Division.

Jack introduced Mr Andrew Fisher, Sales & Marketing Manager from C-THRU WINDOWS & CONSERVATORIES, the Division’s main sponsor who presented the new champions trophy and statuettes to captain Martin Gaut and his fellow victorious Wrockwardine Wood team, Alex & Jodie Rutter, Philip Jones, Sally Clee, Tim Cotton, Ryan & Liam Stevens. Bowring’s Josh Bradburn received the runners up prize on behalf of his team. County President, Mrs Isobel Jones also presented prizes to other winners from the season.

Later, the DJ’s from S & R SOUNDS Disco spun the tunes as many of the mums showed their kids they could still move to the latest tunes….. even though someone provided another highlight of the evening as even after three attempts at the “cha cha slide”, that someone still has a bit to learn, don’t they…..J

John Emonson (treasurer & secretary)Revised Dates for the League Presentation Night

The 2006 presentation night will now take place at St Georgeson 13 January 2007 due to the original venue having to close due to a fire,The League Secretary has worked tirelessly to find an alternative venue and he will announce the final details for the evening at the next meeting.

Dennis Lewis (Chairman)New Officials announced

Mid_shropshire announced at the November meeting the replacements for both Stuart Duncan and Dave Potts who had announced their early retirement from the league. Dennis Lewis asked the meeting to accept Steve Wall as Temporary fixture secretary and Pete Roden as Competiton Secretary, he pointed out that the preperations had to be started now and both were willing to carry out the preporatory work for next season, he hoped that both posts would be ratified at the AGM in January.

In addition the search begins to find a new replacement for John Emonson as League Secretary who after filing two posts for 3years has decided that he will not stand for election as Secretary at the 2007 AGM, he will stand for re-election as Treasurer.
